CONTRIBUTION TO THE SOCIAL CARE SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT - PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

Sažetak
This paper contributes to a better understanding and implementation of the social care system development in the Republic of Croatia by presenting experience of the Social Care Centre in Krapina. Possibilities of further development are based on the draft of the new Social Care Act, and illustrated by the author's personal experience acquired while working as a social care centre manager and a supervisor. They refer to three areas: further development of social care centres, forming of social services network by founding specialized agencies, and personal development of clients, professional staff and managers within the system. In addition to future structural changes (due to harmonisation with EU legislation), particular attention should be paid to empowerment of professional staff members, as primary bearers of development, through continuous supervision of their psychosocial work.
