Sažetak
The article analyses the provisions of positive Croatian law regulating the problem of liability of the railway carrier for damage to goods, with an emphasis on the institute of limitation of liability of the carrier. A comparative analysis is presented of the quality of the provisions regulating international and national railway transport, as well as the relationship of these provisions with the provisions governing other modes of transport. Finally, new findings are presented regarding the manner of resolving compensation
claims within the national railway goods carrier HŽ-Cargo, which is still the sole such carrier, with regard to the application of the right to limit liability and to the application of this institute in the practice of Croatian courts of law.
