Sažetak

The Museum of Croatian Archeological Monuments in Split keeps a richly decorated gothic belt found in a dry stonework burial place at the cemetery of Sv. Spas at the mouth of the Cetina river. Consisting od 69 pieces of gold plated silver appliques made by moulding, the total lenght of the belt measures 1.55 m. The „litar“ belt, known already in the Illirian times was part of a woman's Dinaric national costume and was closely related to the Byzantine rule in Dalmatia in the 6th century. We may conclude that the use of a metal belt both in men's and women's Dinaric garments is as ancient tradition.
