Sažetak

The work is an attempt to present the Jewish diaspora as a complex and permanent phenomenon. Through religious, culture-specific, economic, and national characteristics related to the preservation and continuity of the Jews, the pheno¬mena of anti-Semitism, assimilation and Zionism have also been treated. A historical and sociological overview of the Jews inhabiting the territory of Yugoslavia up to the Second World War is given in the second part of the article. After the war and the establishment of the state of Israel, a new period in the history of Jews began: a mass immigration of Jews and the establishment of a new national centre in Palestine. In the final part of the work, the adaptation-related problems of new immigrants in Israel are indicated, as well as their possible further migration, and some models are pointed out that could, in the author's opinion, serve for further research into the problems concerned.
