Sažetak

The mise-en-scene of figures in the painting Holy Family with Elizabeth and John the Baptist from the Strossmayer Gallery in Zagreb (SG-708, oil on canvas, 1 x 1.4 m) is compared to the identical Hermitage composition. The details within the blurred outline are slightly different, but the surroundings derives from two different poetics. In one case the identical composition is a consequence of Classicism; the other one is a case of Baroque articulation of space. Which world is closer to Poussin`s oeuvre?
