Sažetak

During our lifetime, society has changed considerably from the economic and political standpoint, but also from the standpoint of social values, primarily relationships. The value and meaning of knowledge have been redefined, and modern sociologists speak of that while describing the transition of society from the society of hard into the society of liquid state. The relationships have been redefined in the sense of emphasising personal needs and personal responsibility for their gratification. The situation and changes in the system of education are anachronistic with regard to social changes. Due to the change of goals, there is a crisis of education in modern Western society, which became more democratic and individualised, which makes the crisis even deeper in our society, as well as the feeling of disorientation and incompetence of educators in the light of the anachronism of the system of education. The research and experiences reveal that the educators are aware of their own lack of competence, the need to develop it further and the ways in which it is possible to do so. Supervision is certainly one of the ways to achieve that, which has been shown by the experiences and results of the evaluation of the supervision conducted with 93 educators (68 percent of the teachers) of the Varaždin county from 2003-2005. The paper presents the results of the supervision evaluation in detail and provides a discussion.
