Phytocenological Analysis of the Populations of the Macchia Juniperus phoenicea L. in the Croatian Litoral Region

During map making of the evergreen vegetation of the Croatian littoral region, the population of the macchia Juniperus phoenicea have been introduced in the vegetation map of the Pula sheet as »as. Querce- tum diets adriaprovinciale stadium Juniperus phoenicea«. The most recent research and analysis of the populations of the species Juniperus phoenicea on the island of Unije (west of the island of Lošinj) and Veli Pržnjak (southwest of the island of Korčula) have shown that they make a special association Pistacio-Juniperetum phoeniceae inserted in the alliance Oleo-Ceratonion, order Quercetalia ilicis and class Quercetea ilicis. As the characteristic species of the association it is marked Juniperus phoenicea, so that as Pistacio-Juniperetum phoeniceae can be considered as being parallel with the associations Juniperetum lyciae, Clematido-Juniperetum lyciae, Rhamno-Juniperetum lyciae, Buxo-Juniperetum phoeniceae and Oleo-Juniperetum phoeniceae, in the composition of which J. phoenicea s. 1. (J. bycia = J. phoenicea var. mollis) is prevailing too.
