Sažetak

An independent act defining special work conditions was passed way back in 1984 and the issues it covers are as current today as they were then. A whole set of analyses undertaken to study occupational injuries and sickness caused by work conditions have resulted in identifying many guidelines crucial for the subsequent drafting of occupational safety measures. Under scrutiny here are the logic and the need for defining special work conditions with regard to employees’ age and sex, special training, health status and mental capacities. Added focus is placed on professional training in high-risk jobs which is of great importance for employees’ horizontal mobility and, also, in view of the shortage of employees trained adequately for the jobs they perform.
