Rational Approach to Patients With Cardiac Arrhythmia

Sažetak
The field of diagnostics, and even more of
the treatment of arrhythmias, is probably the most rapidly
developing domain in cardiology. In the last ten years the
catheter radiofrequency ablation cured a large number of
patients, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators have
given life to many. Such a development, although with delay,
is visible in Croatia as well. The rational approach to the
patient with arrhythmia comprises firstly the revealing of
arrhythmia and its correct diagnosis by the appropriate choice
of tests, and the evaluation of its clinical and prognostic significance
for the patient. After this procedure, it is possible to
decide about the rational therapeutic methods - cure with
radiofrequency ablation, medicament prophylaxis or protection
of highly risky patients with implants. The rationality is
manifested in efficacious procedures based on the proofs
obtained in clinical studies along with the reduction of unnecessary
costs for investigations and ineffective treatment.
