Sažetak

There are about 3000 known species of Drosophila (vinegar flies) in the world. Most of the vinegar flies attack overripe, rotten or damaged fruits, but females of D. suzukii (Matsumura, 1931) attack the ripening fruit and cause economic losses in the production of stone fruits. European Plant Protection Organization (EPPO) evaluated this species as a possible threat for all European and Mediterranean fruit producing areas. This paper presents a review of literature data on morphology, biology, harmfulness of this species and potential control.
