Sažetak

Miroslav Kraljević (Gospić, 14 December 1885 – Zagreb, 16 April 1913) marked Croatian modernism in the early 20th century. In his short life he created many important and varied artworks which showed him as a top draughtsman, graphic artist and painter, but also as a sculptor. His small number of sculptures mostly comprises family portraits and portraits of important people of Požega, and figure compositions. He
made small items in plaster, bronze and clay. The figure compositions show characteristics of Expressionism, and the portraits are in the realistic style. His medallist work includes the plaque Portrait of my Father Tomo de Kraljević (1907) in the Secession style. Three memorial plaques with portrait medals of the Croatian writers Vjekoslav Babukić, Josip Eugen Tomić and Janko Jurković are in the realistic style. The city of Požega put up the memorial plaques on their birth houses in Požega on the initiative of the Bretherin of the Croatian Dragon (1911). The small sculpture opus of Miroslav Kraljević, in which we include his very fine medals, confirms the artist’s great talent. This allowed him to accept easily various kinds of art expression, which he imprinted with his strong creative individuality.
