eng Effect of Helichrysum italicum on the Electrochemical Corrosion Behaviour of Iron in Simulated Acid Rain Solution
Pilić, Zora; Martinović, Ivana; Pavlinović, Marija; Zlatić, Gloria
Croatica Chemica Acta Vol. 92, No. 1, 2019
The aqueous extract of the Helichrysum italicum leaves (HI) is tested as a corrosion inhibitor of an iron in a simulated acid rain using potentiodynamic polarisation, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Results of all electrochemical methods indicate an increase of a corrosion inhibition efficiency of the iron with the HI extract concentration. Maximum inhibition efficiency (~ 50 %) is obtained at 2.0 g L–1 HI extract. The inhibitive action is assumed to occur via an adsorption of the HI extract on the iron surface. R...

Martinović, Ivana; Pilić, Zora; Zlatić, Gloria; Barišić, Marija; Čelan, Stipe
Croatica Chemica Acta Vol. 94, No. 2, 2021
Extract of Alchemilla vulgaris L. was investigated as eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor for aluminium in 3 % NaCl using electrochemical techniques. According to the results, inhibition efficiency increases with the increase concentration of extract and the highest efficiency (~80 %) is recorded for the maximal concentration of extract (1.0 g L–1). The inhibition activity of extract occurs by the spontaneous physisorption (ΔG ≈ –16 kJ mol–1) on active sites of aluminium surface that follows Freundlich isotherm. Polarization curves showed t...

Barrahi, Asma; Bellaouchou, Abdelkbir; Dikici, Burak; Warad, Ismail; Maatallah, Mohamed; Lozinskaya, Natalia A.; Bazanov, Danil R.; Benhiba, Fouad; Adlani, Loubna; El Faydy, Mohamed; Zarrouk, Abdelkader
The novelty of the work is to scrutinize for the first time the 4R,5S- 2,4,5-tris(4-ethoxyphenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazole (TEPI) as a corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel (C35E) in the acidic medium. The inhibitory properties of TEPI were assessed through various methods, including electrochemical, spectroscopic, and surface analysis, as well as quantum chemical calculations. The protective effect of C35E was seen to expand as the TEPI amount was extended but to diminish as temperature was augmented, fulfilling 98.3 % at 1 mM under 303 K. Cer...

eng Applying electrochemical method in the analysis of polysaccharides in seawater
Plavšić, Marta; Strmečki Kos, Slađana
Hrvatske vode Vol. 27, No. 109, 2019
