Vol. 114, No. 3, 2012
Everyone is aware ofmany differences betweenmen andwomen in everyday life. But, howdifferent arewe in copingwith diseases?Nowadays, results of stroke studies more often point out gender differences. It has been shown that men and women have a different profile of vascular risk factors, different response to medical treatment, therapeutic interventions, as well as post-stroke disability and care. Data have shown women to be significantly older than men when stroke occurs, more likely to suffer cardioembolic stroke and have atrial fibrillation as...

Pediatric ischemic stroke is a rare and devastating disease. A patient presenting with acute neurological deficit should raise suspicion of a possible stroke. However, stroke “mimics” account for a majority of suspected stroke cases in childhood. We present three cases of pediatric acute ischemic stroke, two of which are arterial, and one caused by thrombosis of venous sinuses. In the first case, we present a 16-year old male patient was admitted to our hospital due to a rare Artery of Percheron occlusion. The second case represents a 17-year o...

hrv Perinatalni moždani udar – faktori rizika, klinička prezentacija i ishod
eng Perinatal stroke – risk factors, presentation and outcome

Vol. 145, No. Supp 1, 2023

The connection of musical sounds and the brain functions is a major
challenge of modern neuroscience. It has long been proven that music has a psychological effect on human beings, including induction and modification of cognitive states, moods and emotion. Brain activity, metabolismand blood flow are closely linked. Cognitive activation leads to metabolic changes in specific cortical centres. Consequently, any change in cognitive cortical activity reflects in blood flow velocity. This is especially important in patients recovering from stroke....
