Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the late 2019 outbreak of severe
acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), causes a respiratory disease which
could put myasthenia gravis (MG) patients at a greater risk of developing severe disease course, since
infections and some drugs are a well-recognized trigger of symptom exacerbation in MG patients.
Out of ten most commonly used past and present drugs used in COVID-19 treatment, two (quinolone
derivatives and azithromycin) are known to worsen MG symptoms, whereas another t...

Vol. 59, No. 1, 2023

The purpose of this paper is to present SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic methods and their optimal implementation. The main routine microbiological diagnostic tools are molecular and serological methods. Sensitivity and utilisation of molecular methods is the best at the disease onset, while serological methods are the best if used at least 5-7 days after disease onset. Positive molecular test result (real-time polymerase chain reaction; RT-PCR) must be interpreted in the clinical presentation context. A sampling site for molecular analysis is based on di...

Uvod.

In our study, we examined the effect of COVID-19 vaccination on the incidence
of pneumothorax in intensive care patients over age 65. COVID-19 intensive care patients that presented
to our department between April 2020 and May 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic were
evaluated retrospectively. Patients were divided into two main groups, i.e., before and after the vaccination
period. Patients were evaluated retrospectively for the following parameters: gender, age, side
of pneumothorax, mortality, discharge, comorbidity, and additional pleura...

The evolution of immunology enabled the study of role of innate and adaptive immunity in systems biology network of
immunosenescence and inflammaging. Due to global reduction in birth rates and reduced mortality, in year 2025 there will be about
1.2 billion of people over age of sixty, worldwide. The notion that the real age is not chronological, but the biological one led to the
concept of "bioage", defining the biologic reactivity and resilience, including the immune competence of an individual. A competent
immune network, systemic and mu...

Vol. 29, No. 2 COVID-19, 2020

COVID-19 infection in patients treated in dialysis centers is a particular challenge
given that there is a significantly increased risk of transmitting the infection to medical staff, other
staff of the institution, other patients, and family members of the patients.
The purpose of our work is to share our experiences in the implementation of preventive and epidemiological
measures with reference to patients on a chronic outpatient hemodialysis program.
Nurses play an important role in education and caring for the dialysis patient.

Background: Coronavirus-2 pandemic has changed the functioning of health systems worldwide. It is not yet fully known which
symptoms of the disease are most commonly presented in patients referred for pulmonary rehabilitation. Our aim was to investigate
the profile of patients referred for pulmonary rehabilitation; what symptoms they had during the acute phase of the disease and what
symptoms were still present at the start of pulmonary rehabilitation.
Subjects and methods: Study included ongoing symptomatic and post-COVID patients who atte...
