Sažetak

Codling moth, Cydia pomonella Linnaeus 1785 (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) is the most serious pest of apple production in Europe and worldwide. Autmn applications of the enthomopathogenic nematode Steinernema carpocapsae Weiser 1955 (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae) targeting the overwintering pre-pupal stage of the codling moth reduce the adult population the following spring. Beneficial nematodes can be used to compliment all of the different
pest control measures; chemical insecticides, mating disruption and granulosis virus, but their applications are also an important tool in pesticide resistance management. In this paper a review of all research for the period 1997-2010 on S. carpocapsae field efficacy in codling moth control, mass cultivation, formulation, and application strategies of the S. carpocapsae commercial products are presented.
