Sažetak

In this text I explore the relationship between N. V. Gučetić and Plotinus. In his Dialogo d'amore Gučetić asks the question whether love (Amor) is a feeling in our soul or a demon or a god. This question mirrors a similar question asked by Plotinus (En. III, 5, 1). First I show how Gučetić understands the demonic nature of love (as mediated by M. Ficino) and then what answers he gives to Plotinian question: Gučetić tries to unite neoplatonic teachings about demons as mediators between god(s) and men and Renaissance ideas about love as a feeling of the concupiscent part of our soul, in which we can read the influence of A. Nifo.
