Sažetak
The realization of the first lot of the Shanxi Wanjiazhai Yellow River Diversion (SWYRD) project, located in the Shanxi Province in the People's Republic of China, is described. The lot is composed of two underground pre-pump stations with numerous underground chambers that are linked by tunnels with the Yellow River and other parts of the project. It is one of the world's biggest underground construction projects. The project and the realization of this extremely complex construction endeavour, with fully underground diversion of the Yellow River, is described.
