Sažetak

The topic of this paper is bounded by a chronological framework of the first six to seven centuries of Christianity and is geographically situated in Greek-Roman cultures, i.e. the Roman Empire. One of the objectives of this research was to question how the Church, when it came into contact with the Hellenistic culture, overcame tensions that inevitably emerged. The article points out the effects and repercussions of their encounters and clashes. Keeping in mind the far-reaching repercussions of pastoral decisions of the First Church on the development of Christianity and Christian thought, the currentness of the argument for our times are not to be underestimated. It will be useful to disclose some valid theological principles that led the Church in various and varied situations so that the experiences of the first Church can serve as an example for the Church in the 21st century faced with the challenge of the New Evangelisation.
