Sažetak

In this article the author discusses the surnames found in the glagolitic registers of baptisms and deaths in the 17th century on the island of Silba. Selecting them according to the mode of formation, he comes to the conclusion that the surnames are formed by family numbering, and that most of noun patronymics are formed by the ending -ić, while most of adjective patronymics with name or nickname are formed by endings -ov, -ev, -in. There are a lot of surnames without family numbering. The surnames formed by the secondary formation by ending a Croatian endings to the foreign base are found, too. Comparing the old and new registers, the author notes the appearance of new surnames and disappearance of the old ones too. The surnames of godfathers from Silba are also listed on the inventory. Such a diversity of surnames could be explained by the cultural and economic development of Silba in the 17th century.
