Personified Image of Carić’s Island

Sažetak
The native Mediterranean landscape of The Island (Otok) (Zagreb, 1977) represents Carić’s search for his autobiography which is at the same time the biography of the Island – the City – Hvar, which is why the image of the Island – the City is personified as a Mediterranean space. The city is a metaphor of its inhabitants. As each personality bears its traits so does the Island blend into a final perception as a framed factual image inscribed with individual personalities. Fragmentation of intertwined stories through inner and outer maps is written into an image of aesthetical everydayness with the editing procedure of ars combinatoria on the level of discourse in the space of an innovative linguistic play.
