Sažetak

This work was based on theoretical and practical work questioning the development of young people’s system of values. The goal was to question the relation between universal and behavioral values among college seniors who attend teachers trainee program, N = 122 (90%). Tool used in this research is based on Schwartz theory of 10 basic types of values which are further branched and directed to particular and behavioral. From pedagogical point of view, we talk about educational values and particularity of this area can be explained by structural approach which shows that beliefs, values, attitudes, intentions and behavior are connected.
The results of research showed that from 30 possible values, examinees value family stability, spiritual harmony, love and purpose of life the most, and social power, tradition, connection with nature, authority and national security the least. Unlike young men, young women put emphasis on love, equality and self-respect. The least important values are the same to both young men and women. On the other hand, behavioral values that are most important are preservation of health, enjoying life, independence and honesty and they are tightly connected with chosen universal values (Cramer fi = 0.39 - 0.79).
