Sažetak
Through the course of history it is possible to trace back the development of materials and their significance in everyday use. In earlier times man simply took materials from nature and it was only later that, by the use of quantitative knowledge from mathematics, physics and the like, he found procedures for getting more modern materials.
The number of our materials in use is constantly increasing, particularly in the last several years. Some cases of revolutionary implementations of materials based on scientific research are semi transmitters and silica chip in the computer as well as optical fibres.
They have quite wide range of usage therefore we have concentrated on their role in sports especially Formula 1 and tennis. While in tennis that choice of materials has influence on health and performance of player, in Formula 1 it can play significant role in saving the life of the driver.
