Sažetak

The European Union has focused on setting up security issues to the supranational level since its creation in 1993. The European Union adopted the European Security Strategy in 2003. and Internal Security Strategy in 2010. In the first case, EU has been strategically addressing the external dimension of European security. In the Internal Security Strategy EU at a strategic level sets the overall dimensions of internal security. Also, Internal Security Strategy abandoned former fragmented European approach to security. This document laid the foundation for linking and integrating internal and external security of the EU. The question is whether this approach in the future lead to defining a strategy identical to the national security strategy states at the supranational EU level? Despite provisions of the Lisbon Treaty by which Member States maintain responsibility for their own national security, Internal Security Strategy certainly will affect the jurisdiction and the state function in this area. The Internal Security Strategy will also affect the "europeanization" of security practices and security discourse in the Republic of Croatia.
