Free Zones Important Points of Transport and Economic System in the Republic of Croatia

Sažetak
The Republic of Croatia as a number of countries in transition faces numerous difficulties in the field of transport, economy, foreign trade and foreign exchange operations, foreign and internal indebtedness, social welfare policy and demography etc. In order to solve efficiently these extremely complex problems it is necessary to use special instruments of state economic policy, since satisfactory results could not be achieved by using conventional instruments. One of the internationally recognized and most frequently used special instrument of central state economic policy for resolving the above mentioned difficulties without state investments and without state risk is the institute of «Free zone». In this paper, through the elaboration of the term, structure and function of the institute of «Free zone» and by presenting draft measures for its application in the Republic of Croatia, the intention has been to help the bodies of the state authority and government administration find adequate solution to current difficulties in the quickest and the most efficient way and at the same time provide a source which would give professionals and scientists in this field a support in search of these solutions.
