Croatian philosophical Terminology at the Turn of the Century and Bazala's Contribution to It

Sažetak
The paper reviews the Croatian philosophical terminology as it developed from the establishment of the Chair of Philosophy at the newly reconsituted University of Zagreb up to, and including, the period during which Albert Bazala held that Chair. The author discusses the terminological work of Franjo Marković and Djuro Arnold, as well as that of Antun Bauer and Josip Stadler at the Faculty of Theology of the same university. Bazala's main contribution to the development of the Croatian philosophical terminology consists in the first place in the consistent application of the terms already in use to all the periods in the history of philosophy, from its very beginnings to the 1920's. In this way, he also demonstrated the capability of the Croatian language, in some cases even an exceptionally great capability, to give native expression to philosophical concepts and to philosophical though t generally.
