Croatian Language Class: Exotisms – Exercisees

Sažetak

The Croatian language curriculum for the fourth grade of secondary school
includes fundamentals of lexicology, lexicography and history of the Croatian language
in the 20th century. Among other topics, lexicology covers a unit on loan words,
which the pupils of the Secondary School Matija Mesić find particularly interesting.
Having acquired the knowledge of the types of loan words, the pupils working in
groups applied their knowledge of exotisms to the written and oral exercises on
exotisms used in several school subjects. By solving problems in a clever and skilful
way the secondary school pupils from Slavonski Brod demonstrated that they are familiar
with exotisms.
