Sažetak

The study is based on hypothesis that whey powder, a more inexpensive material, could substitute cow's milk powder in milk replacerin kids' feeding without effect on their body gain and slaughter yield. With a view of reducing to minimum kids' death rate in postnatal growth progress and of saving goat's milk for manufacture, relevant technique and technology of kids feeding was chosen. Milk replacer was prepared using increasing quantities of whey powder, byproduct of dairy industry. Results of planned kids' meat production were recorded determining: body measures and realized gaines; consumed food and food conversion; morbidity and mortality and slaughter yield of kids. Feeding results realized from the first to the 4th day after kids' birth, using milk replacer in which 14% and 29% of whey powder substituted milk powder, confirmed the hypothesis relative to possibility of cow's whey powder substitution for cow's milk powder, as the differences in average final body weights and kids' slaughter yields were not significant (P>0.05). The best conversion of crude proteins was realized in feeding milk replacer containing 29% of whey powder.
