Sažetak

Communicative practice has shown that even at the earliest stage of language learning child speaks the language of her/his environment, while the beginning of formal education transforms her/him into a muntilingual person. This is precisely the reason why the authors think that, following the principle of suitability and gradual approach, as well as belonging to a certain environment, native dialect should be the starting point in planning and teaching linguistic content at the initial stage of learning how to read and write. Spontaneous children’s expresion in a native idiom can be detected best while listening to children playing freely. That is why the authors organized drama activities with preschoolers and school children in Nin in order to record their native dialect at all linguistic levels. In an encouraging working environment, which was developing gradually, the children were taking assigned or chosen roles, telling stories about their everyday life. The autors fi rst established the aim of the research, then they set means, procedures and forms of play. The results obtained were compared to the results of the researches on the native dialect of Nin that have been carried out so far.
