Sažetak

In his annual summary the author lists fresh bibliography on Marulić, surveying re-cent relevant literature on the subject (books and articles), that appeared in Croatia and abroad. Also, he sums up the results of the domestic and foreign scholars studying Marulić, who have done much original work in various European archives in the recent period. The results of their research appeared in part in the previous and the present volumes of Colloquia Maruliana (see the articles by Petar Runje, Charles Béné, Franz Leschinkohl). The remaining important data will be remembered in this summary.
Charles Béné from Grenoble has collected the bibliographical data and photo-copies of the European editions and translations of Marulić‚s Latin poem Carmen de doctrina Domini nostri Iesu Christi pendentis in cruce, appearing in the period between the start of the 16th and the latter half of the 19th centuries. The famous poem was brought out in around twenty translations and adaptations in six languages (Spanish, French, Italian, English, Czech, Croatian). Only in France it appeared in sixty printed editions.
Charles Béné also draws our attention to the first known Flemish translation of Marulić: it is Marulić‚s prayer from the Evangelistarium (book II, chapt. 23), printed in Petrus Bacherius‚ book Hortulus precationum or Het Hoften der Ghebeden (Louvain, 1566).
The book Entre España y Croacia (P.E.N., “Most”, Zagreb- Dubrovnik, 1993),whose author is Karlo Budor from Zagreb, contains two studies on Marulić. In the study Quevedo, lector de Marco Marulić Budor informs us that the testamentary library list of the great representative of the golden century of Spanish literature, among other items, contained “opera de Marco Marulo”. The mentioned item was probably Opera omnia, i.e., its Antwerp edition of 1601. The second study discusses Spanish translations of the Evangelistarium and the Quinquaginta parabolae. The translator Bartolomé Fernández de Revenga, in his introduction of 1655, stresses the esteem of St Francis Xavier for Marko Marulić.
In the present Marulić‚s annals the author quotes several documents that confirm Marulić‚s fame in 15th, 16th and 17th century Europe, collected by different researchers:
-Marcus Antonius Coccius Sabellicus (1436-1506) in his Enneades (X, 8) mentions Marulić as a writer famous already during the pontificate of Sixtus IV (1436-1506). (See the study of Charels Béné in Colloquia Maruliana II).
-Johannes Trithemius (= J. Heidenberg, or Zeller, 1462-1516) cites Marulić in his Catalogus scriptorum ecclesiasticorum (1494, 2nd ed. 1508-1513).
-The Humanist from Hvar, Vinko Pribojević (Vincentius Priboevius) in his oration De origine succesibusque Slavorum of 1525, retains Marulić equal to Jerome.
-Ioannes Garetius from Louvain, in his Universalis et catholicae Ecclesiae de veritate Corporis Christi in eucharistiae sacramento praesentis consensus (Antwerp, 1563) quotes the Evangelistarium, book II, chapt. 17. Garetius‚ work was printed in French, in Paris, in 1599 (De la vraie presence du corps de Iesus...)
-Petrus Bacherius, in 1666, translated into Flemish a passage from the Evangelistarium (see above).
-Jacques Billy, translator of the Church Fathers and elder brother of Geffroy Billy,who translated the De institutione into French, in a letter of 1568 advises the third brother, Jean, to translate Marulić‚s Evangelistarium.
-Polish hagiographer Piotr Skargi, in his six-volume work De probatis sanctorum historiis (1st ed. Koln 1570-1575), used the De instutione as one of the literary sources for his saints‚ lives.
-English humanist John Case, in his Sphaera civitatis (Oxford, 1588), speaking about Latin literature, mentions Marulić.
-In the contents of the book De Poetische Werken by Jan van der Noot, appears thename of M. Marulić (the information needs further verification).
-Antonius Possevinus included Marulić in his three-volume Apparatus sacer ad scriptores Veteris ac Novi Testamenti (Venezia, 1603-1606).
