Sažetak

In the study the efficacy of Sensodyne toothpaste containing 10% strontium chloride on dental hypersenslitivity was examined. The study involved 60 subjects of an average age 39,1. 31 of them brushed their teeth two times daily with 10% strontium chloride dentifrice and 29 of them applied usual toothpaste without fluorine resp. strontium chloride. Hypersenisivity level has been assessed using mechanical-tactile, thermal and chemiical (quick evaporable liquid stimuli. Levels of improvement have been registered after 1
week, resp. 2, 3 and 6 weeks of the clinical study. The results show that after 6 weeks of 10% stromtium chloride use 71% of the subjects reported to have hypersensitivity symptoms no more, and only 1 - subject of the control group reported a complete relief. A fair improvement has been reported by 16,1% subjects using strontium chloride and only 6,9% subjects of controle grouip. After 6 weeks 75,8% of subjects in the controle group have shown no improvement and only 1 subject from strontium chloride group. A more significant desensitisimg effect began as early as after two weetks of 10% strontium chloride use and continued up to the end of the study.
