Sažetak In Croatia the domain of media has become a genuine battlefield between individuals and organizations committes to the broadening of the freedom of thought and expression and individuals and the Government attempting to limit this freedom. The author describes the features of Croatian legislation regulating media. most recent legal reforms — the new Law on Public Information and the amendes Penal Code — have created a certain duality of liberal and repressive legal provisions. This legal situation has resulted in a great number of civil and criminal lawsuits against publishers and journalists, which seriously jeopardize freedom of the press.
