Sažetak

Lung cancer is the most frequent malignant disease, and most often the cause of death from malignant disease in the world. Standard forms of treatment are surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
Determining the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in tumor cells enables the application of specific medication that blocks the mentioned receptor and which has a favorable therapeutic effect.
We have described, in this work, the frequency of EFGR protein expression in cells of non-small-cell lung cancer and its impact on the histological maturity of the tumor in patients that have undergone surgery at Zadar General Hospital Department of Surgery.
Conclusion: Protein EGFR expression in our material is not connecetd with tumour maturity. However, it is important to determine the EGFR status of every tumour due to adequate application of anti EGFR medications.
