[Inflammatory changes in the gingiva as a factor for the epidemiological investigation in the state of the oral cavity]

Sažetak
In addition to the registration of various findings such as: the state of the teeth, the hygiene of the oral cavity etc. one of the important factors in the epidemiological examination is also the registration of inflammatory changes in the gingive by means of the »PMA index.
The comparative analysis of the medioojstatisticaI data thus obtained can show which of the numerous causative factors plays a dominant role in the development of caries in a determined age group in the population of a given area. Epidemiological investigations in the area of the Gorski Kotar and the island of Kjrik were carried out by the author who established a certain correlation between the prevelence of dental caries, the condition of oral hygiene and the fluoride contents in drinking water (4).
