Stari Most (Old Bridge) in Mostar – its Geometry and Metric System

Sažetak

This paper presents an analysis of the metric system of Mostar’s bridge called Stari most (Old Bridge) constructed in 1566. The research has pointed to the conclusion that the entire bridge was constructed on the basis of an old Turkish metric system of "arshin" (i.e. ell – measuring 75,77 cm in length) and its smaller derivation "parmak" (3,157 cm in length).
