Sports and University Facilities on Mažuranić and Marulić Squares in Zagreb

Sažetak

In the second half of the 19th and in the early 20th centuries parks in West Zagreb (nowadays Mažuranić and Marulić squares) were the areas of intensive sports and recreation activities. The construction of the university facilities on Marulić square (National and University Library, Institute of Chemistry from 1913 and Institute of Physics from 1932) brought on new forms of activity and thus prevented the formation of a continuous landscaped area in Central Zagreb.
