Sažetak

Public architectural competitions of the 1930s undoubtedly made a strong contribution to modern architecture in spite of the fact that they often stirred up a lot of scandal. The main cause of dissatisfaction was the fact that the competition rules did not guarantee the winning architects the right to project realization. The new Rule Book adopted in 1938 did not, however, result in significant improvements. The last scandal over the competition for the Railway Hospital in Zagreb between the wars was caused by a newly-introduced rule which banned the participation of those architects who were in any way related to the competition jury members. godine.
