Sažetak

The Croatian edition of an originally German work on the didactics of religious education entitled Religionsdidaktik (Vjeronaučna didaktika) prompted the author to consider the place and role of general didactics and subject didactics, with particular attention to the area of didactics of religious education in today’s scholarly thinking. For this purpose, he first cites the definition and guidelines of general didactics, followed by subject and specific didactics of religious education. The author quotes individual representatives of this scientific discipline from regions where German, Italian, Spanish and English are spoken. He recalls that in Croatia, following the democratic changes and reintroduction of religious education in the schools, scholarly thought is once again present in the area of didactics of religious education. The publication of the Croatian edition of Religionsdidaktik (Vjeronaučna didaktika), which the author briefly presents, will certainly contribute to the development of religious educational thinking and greater familiarity with specific religious educational didactic topics.
