The Study of Catechesis Today

Sažetak

After the latest publication of "Studiare catechetica", the author reflects about the study, the place and role od catechetics and catechesis today in the world and in Croatia. In this regard the author questions the catechetical terminology and its meaning, with special emphasis on parish catechesis and religious instruction in the schools. In order to study catechetics one should know the reference sources that speak about the history of the Church, catechesis and catechetics in general, and also the general guidelines of the particular Church, parish catechesis and religious instruction in the school. In this context it is important to consult not only specific studies, but also a variety of catechetical and other specialized journals. Finally, the author reflects upon the place and role of Croatian catechesis and the catechetical theoretical and practical achievements abroad and in Croatia. It is desirable to continue all the positive achievements in the area of religious instruction in school, but not to the detriment of parish catechesis. In this sense, the author raises several questions and suggests possible solutions.
