In this article the author gives a summary of the creation of the draft of the plan and program for the preparation for the sacrament of confirmation, which was the basis for the compilation of the Exercise Book Towards the Sacrament of Confirmation, entitled, ''Send us Your Spirit'', Glas Koncila, Zagreb, 2007.
The author first gives the life situation of our confirmation candidates in their pre-adolescent and adolescent phase, that is, from age 13 to 16 when most of them receive the sacrament of confirmation. New perspectives for confirmation preparation are offered which include integration into the Church community and its development which is a turnabout in approach to preparation, considering that till now candidates had to know the catechism and to study by heart the truths of the faith and different prayers. The draft of the plan and program also offers the structure of the goals, the themes and units on the basis of which the excercise book was compiled. The draft of the plan and program take into consideration the guidelines of the document of the Croatian Bishops Conference Parish Catechesis in the Renewal of the Parish Community, Zagreb-Zadar 2000. Since the document for creating a quality plan and program included only guidelines from literature based on parish catechesis which emphasizes ''faith growth'', especially ''celebratio catechetica'' and the Church (liturgical) year, several problems arose. The main difficulty that arose was how to connect everything in the plan and program with the study material and with a deepening experience of membership to Christ's Church through witnessing and the ministry which flows from sacramental and ecclesial life. In that sense a solution was needed that would take into consideration different proposals in Croatia and abroad and on the basis of our pastoral and catechetical possibilities create a proposal plan and program draft.
