Initial concepts and ideas relating to this environmental project, highly significant for one of the most polluted areas on the Mediterranean, are presented in this introductory article, which is the first in series of articles about the Eco Kaštela Bay Project. In cooperation with the World Bank and the European bank, Croatian government decided to invest some € 150 million in the water supply and sewerage system, the principal objective being to improve quality of sea water. Authors describe the current situation, structure of the project, technical approach used in problem solving, and the project financing scheme.
