Development strategy for academic libraries as a part of development strategy for academic institutions

Sažetak
This paper analyzes the development of the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek Library in the context of the Faculty Development strategy, and also the constantly changing roles of academic libraries which occur due to the introduction of Bologna process in Croatian higher education system. Since the project of developing a new university library system for the “Josip Juraj Strossmayer” University in Osijek is currently being designed, the paper discusses the possible role of the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek Library in this project. Finally, the importance of building a National development strategy for university library systems is emphasized as a starting point for making academic libraries the fundamental factors of modern university library systems.
