Compaction of soil and other granular materials used in construction work

Sažetak
The paper (lecture consecrated to professor Nonveiller) starts by emphasizing that good-quality compaction is highly significant for the proper relationship between the bearing capacity and deformation, i.e. for the factor of safety, usability, life span and maintenance of structures either lying on earth material or made of such material. Compaction procedures and parameters significant for their proper implementation are described. The importance of continuous control is emphasized. Several relevant examples are also presented.
