Sažetak

On the basis of the analysis of the records of confirmations from the year 1825 author discusses surnames that are mentioned in the records. People that are mentioned came from 20 different places: beside Pula, Rovinj, Vižinada, Novaci and Lovran, records are mentioning immigrants from 14 villages, as well as some that came from Italian province of Carnia. Author suggests that the surname cannot always indicate ethnical background but surely can show provenance of the person. Immigrants are always noted in these books together with the place of their origin, but in the cases of their children these data often can be omitted and then only their surname can suggest their origin. Parochial records of Pula from the period between the seventeenth and nineteenth century witness that the
Croatian population gradually became predominant. It is important to stress that in these records one surname can be noted in a several variations. According to the occurrence some of the surnames were more common e.g.: Capolicchio, Detoffi, Deghenghi, Demori, Leonardelli and Tarticchio in Galižana; Jukopila, Klunić, Kostešić, Mokorić, Perković and Vojnić in Ližnjan; Demarin, Grakalić, Kirac, Lorencin, Marinović and Radošević in Medulin; Crnobori, Iveša, Mezulić, Mihovilović, Pavić, Periša, Premate, Rakić, Rosanda and Skoko in Premantura; Sladonja and Ušić in Valtura. This article is a contribution to the investigation of the demographical picture of the region of Pula.
