Sažetak

The need to build the Central Waste Water Treatment Plant (CUPOVZ) in Zagreb is presented and emphasized. The approach to the realization of the overall project is described and basic objectives of the project, with methods to fulfill these objectives, are outlined. A special emphasis is placed on the fact that the structures are functionally harmonized with relevant spatial development plans which, together with the financing scheme, makes the entire project a laudable enterprise. It is the first Croatian project in the sphere of municipal infrastructure development on which the BOT concession model has been applied.
