Estimation of integrity and utilization of Benkovac platy stone

Sažetak
In the wider area of Benkovac there are numerous quarries where the reserves of the Benkovac platy natural stone are exploited. The goal of exploration is to estimate the possible stone integrity and the determination of utilization of the rock mass during the exploitation in the form of thin plates of various sizes suitable for stone construction and cladding. The prior and the additional knowledge about geological, structural and petrographical characteristics were also used. At the same time, this is an opportunity to display an increase of the usability of the rock mass. In this sense an additional efforts have been made regarding the possible separation of stone along the "closed contours" in order to increase the utilization of rock mass in the deposit. In this regard water splashing could be used during the very hot summer days. On this way links between two layers of stone are weakened and separation of plates is possible.
