Sažetak

The research goal was to operationalize mathematical creativity through highly indicative behaviours and subsequently demonstrate their characteristics. In this manner, research was aimed at defining mathematical creativity in children and adolescents as concensually highly replicable and reliable forms of creative behaviours. Out of a stem group of 313 concrete descriptions of childrens′ and adolescents′ creative behaviours through factor- and cluster-analysis, a small group of 16 mathematically higly indicative, prototipical behaviors, was selected. This unifactorial, replicable group of mathematically creative behaviours was, in follow-up analysis, described as intelligence and knowledge dependent but emotion independent, complex, socially valued and perceived for older children and concerning gender, more appropriate for boys. Criterion validity of this behaviour group is dependent on behaviour characteristics that comprise the group, raising clear-cut questions on identification, evaluation and encouragement of mathematical creativity in children and adolescents
