Sažetak The author attempts to depict typical features of expressionistic playwriting in Stjepan Mihalić's 'passional play in five scenes', published under the title of 'Grbavica'. Adapted to the poetical dominant of its time and the contemporary understanding of drama and theatre, Mihalić's play offers itself as an example of medieval miracle play features used, in the expressionist Croatian theatre, as a basis for re-examination of all human values and destruction of all taboos and myths (including the biblical myth itself) in a time heavily burdened by the presentiment of war.
