Sažetak The paper starts with the illustration of geodetic survey in the early new era. The report is classified into the problems of higher geodesy and those of topographic sui-vey.
At that time the Earth has been considered a globe and the tasks of higher geodesy were mostly connected with the determining the size of the Earth's globe. The terrestrial methods of spherical geodesy are described with an accent on the method by Marin Getaldic. Along with these purely geometrical methods, there are also linerar and astronimical, and trigonometric and astronomical methods applied. The triangulation procedure is of a special importance here being significant for geodesy from that time up to now. Picard's
measurements from the second half of the 17th century are the last geodetic activities in which the globe was taken as the Earth's model.
The topographic survey implies gathering the contents of the topographic map originals. Among various surveying methods Glavač seems to have applied simple procedures as for example the determination of the direction by means of compass with a rough angle classification, the determination of distance by means of pacing or travelling time. The work describes the methods of topographic survey in the those days in some European countries.
While analysing the Glavač's map, one has tried to answer the question about previous field works, adopted dimensions of the Earth's globe, mapscale and map projection. The way of estimating the accuracy of the map presentations has been especially explained.
At the end of the work it is concluded that the Glavač's map represents of the crucial works in Croatian cartography of the 17th century, and that afterthe research has been carried out, there are stil many questions remaining open for the future to find the answers for them.
