Sažetak
In the vegetation season 2009 at eight localities of Ćićarija (Spa’s of Natura 2000) 65 of wild growing grassland taxa were selected on the basis of morphological (size and color, form and texture, habitus) and ecological (soil type, resistance, the amount of lighting and propagation of plant species) characteristics. The results indicate that the selected species are of great aesthetic potential and already cultivated worldwide. Most numerous families are Liliaceae (8), Asteraceae (7) and Caryophyllaceae (5 taxa), predominant life form is Hemicryptophyta (60%). Most frequent are pink (30%), white (22%), yellow (21%) and blue (16%) flower/inflorescence color and, for majority of species the flowering season is long. The prevailing perennial species (90%) are suitable for planting in gardens, rock gardens, parks, etc. Regarding ecological characteristics most of the selected species grow on sandy to silty (52%) and less on the rocky (32%) soils. Most of them grow in moderately moist soils, are resistant to cold and primarily produced by seed. These species are economical for the cultivation and maintenance. The results of this research may help to select plant species for the landscape design and to choose assortment for cultivation, but also provide requirements for the protection of some protected, rare or endemic plant species.
