REVIEWING SEVERAL ELEMENTS OF POWER STRATEGY IN CROATIA

Sažetak
The essay discusses one part of results of sociological research work made for the project „Social and Ecological Aspects of Development“ set by the Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy Departmental Research Unit of Sociology.
The results of the research work, performed during 1992 on the sample group of 547 students of Zagreb and Rijeka Universities, point to the tendency of over evaluating the power production potentials of Croatia as well as to the insufficient spreading of information about the power resources, natural and technological.
According to the examined persons' opinions, Croatia would have to be relying on building the alternative power plants in near future, to be economizing the energy supplies and be improving the traditional ways of using the existing capacities, be buildČing hydro power plants, and finally, be thinking of importing power and fossil fuelled therm power plants as the last reČsource, whole the construction of nuclear power plants appears to be entirely undesirable project.
Measures requiring little or no personal engagement seem to be the most acceptable from among various measures of economising the energy. Restrictions or forcing by threatening retribution would not be tolerated.
The comparison of the results of this research project with the findings of the previous similar research works made in the area of Croatia shows that the opinions about some questions on energy strategy (e.g. on acceptability of some electric energy constructions) are of firm structure having changed very slightly during last years - this represents the fact to be respected in discusČsion about different options of future power strategies.
